Terms of Service
Effective July 27, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By using SyllabusTLDR at syllabustldr.com (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. What the Service does
SyllabusTLDR is a free tool that parses syllabus text you paste, or a PDF you upload, into a visual summary of grade weights, deadlines, and course policies. It runs entirely in your browser — no account, no login, and no server-side storage of your syllabus content.
3. Not affiliated, not official
SyllabusTLDR is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any university, college, instructor, or course. Summaries are generated automatically using pattern-matching and may misread, miss, or misinterpret information — they are a convenience aid only.
Always verify grade weights, deadlines, and policies against your official course syllabus before relying on them.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree to use the Service only with content you have the right to use, and not to misuse it — including attempting to disrupt, reverse-engineer for malicious purposes, or overload the Service.
5. Intellectual property
The SyllabusTLDR name, branding, and design are owned by us. The Service uses open-source and third-party libraries (Tailwind CSS, Font Awesome, PDF.js, html2canvas), each under its own license. Any syllabus content you process remains yours — we don't claim any ownership of it, and as explained in our Privacy Policy, we never receive or store it.
6. Advertising
The Service may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and its partners. We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party advertisers, or for any site you reach through an ad.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, reliability, or uninterrupted availability. Parsed summaries can be wrong; nothing here is academic, legal, or professional advice.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SyllabusTLDR and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including missed deadlines, incorrect grade calculations, or academic consequences. You use the Service at your own risk and remain responsible for verifying information against your official syllabus.
9. Changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Service, or update these terms, at any time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a different jurisdiction is required by applicable local law.
